In a landmark event signifying the strengthening of global academic partnerships, the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) recently hosted delegates from the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRSU) in Bonn, Germany. The visit, which took place on September 20, 2023, aimed to explore possible avenues for a mutually beneficial partnership between the two esteemed institutions.
The visiting delegation from H-BRSU, led by Prof. Dr. Sonja Christ-Brendemühl and Prof. Dr. Hektor Haarköter, engaged in productive discussions with UCC’s Department of Communication Studies. The discussions revolved around potential areas of collaboration, including student and staff exchange programs, joint research initiatives, curriculum development, and internship opportunities.
Present at the meeting were several key figures from UCC’s Department of Communication Studies. The group included Prof. William Kodom Gyasi, Head of the Department, along with esteemed colleagues Prof. Philip Arthur Gborsong, Prof. Richard Torgbor Torto, Dr. Jacob Nyarko, Dr. Edem Adzovie, Dr. Wincharles Coker, Mr. Theophilus Atram Nartey, Miss Angela Amoah, and Mr. Opoku Oku Afari.
One of the day’s highlights was a visit to UCC’s Campus Broadcasting Station (CBS), where the delegates were given a warm welcome by the Head of Programs, Mr. Dominic Kofi Konadu while Mr. Ibrahim Adam led them through an enlightening tour of the facility, discussing its role in nurturing the next generation of media professionals. The visit culminated with a brief on-air engagement hosted by the Head of Sports, Mr. Asante Fokuo.
As the day concluded, both parties expressed optimism about the potential of a future partnership. This collaboration, if realized, could bring about significant benefits for both institutions, fostering the exchange of ideas and experiences, promoting international understanding, and enriching the academic experiences of both staff and students.
